Buying a market research report?

I've always attempted my ventures in industries I was very familiar with or had some insider knowledge of. I've recently had an idea to start a new venture, but in an industry new to myself. I found a market analysis on researchandmarkets.com but it costs $2500. Are these types of reports that valuable? What has been your experience with these types of reports, vs attempted market research and analysis of your own?
