I've run the Shopify Masters podcast for the last 2 years interviewing over 100 ecommerce entrepreneurs and feel like it's now my turn to give it a try.
I'm launching a store and building a community around the store.
Rather than launching in the dark, I wanted to document the entire process that I'm going through.
Because there's no secret trick to starting a business, it's just smart decisions and consistent execution. So you'll get to see all that through my updates.
I'll be selling digital content (courses). And if you're still debating what you should sell, here's what I've learned from the successful ecommerce entrepreneurs I've spoken to:
- Build an audience first or serve your existing audience (I have an audience of ecommerce entrepreneurs and know how to market to them already)
- Work off of your strengths (I'm good at creating content so I don't have to learn a new skill like manufacturing a physical product or even selling t-shirts).
If you want to follow along I already released 3 vlog updates. Each update teaches a bit about the stage that I'm at and updates you on the stage that I'm at:
- Choosing an Ecommerce Niche - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTMWBd-RWko
- Using Amazon For Market Research - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx2TM--38SQ
- Getting Traction on New Social Media Platforms - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXbjuuieowA
It's kind of nerve-wracking to launch something like this publicly, but I find it therapeutic to talk about the struggles of entrepreneurship and if others can learn something along the way then why not?
