Success has a lot to do with your sense of being Find out how to train yourself to make money and stay in tune with your mind, body and soul
Hey all,
My Dad was a successful CEO, and about 10 years ago, he took all of his savings and started a coffee brand. I can tell my Dad is struggling, he doesn't know the basics of SEO, and digital and social media marketing. He's incredibly smart, but he fails in brand recognition and marketing.
Last August, I completely redesigned the site, and transferred it over to the shopify platform. I have been handling everything from SEO optimizations, to graphic design(which i suck at). But my day job as a software engineer prevents me from really making a powerful impact on the company. The site is averaging $8k-12k/month with 30% margins on the products, because of this, I know that if something doesn't change, it will fail.
This is where things get tricky, mixing family and business. I have a decent savings, and I want to help out, but I know I need professional help. I've been in contact with a few local web agencies, and I have a quote from one for $2,000/month. They will help with fixing AdWords, targeting profitable keywords, landing page optimization, etc. etc. The only thing is that this will be coming out of my pocket, and my dad will be unaware of this. My goal is that after 6 months, the return on my investment would be noticeable, and the $2k would come from the companies profits, or I learn enough that I can handle marketing myself.
Here are my options.
-
Invest the $2k a month
- After 6 months, there's no benefit, I lose the money
- After 6 months, there's a benefit, the company covers the cost
-
I quit my job and try to grow the business myself (I still spend a lot of money)
- I learn a lot, it fails.
- I learn a lot, it succeeds.
-
I don't do anything
- My Dad miraculously figures out how to be profitable.
- The company succumbs to debt, and i'm footing the bill for my parents in a retirement home.
- I turn 40, my parents are long gone and I work at a large company with stable income, raising kids in the suburbs, and driving a minivan. All while thinking that I wish my 25 year old self, with complete freedom to build a business that fell into my lap, at least tried.
What would you do? I literally can do whatever I want with this business. As a 25 year old with not much savings, I wonder if I should save my money, hope for the best, and try a different venture.
