People are always asking for my help with their business since they know me as a successful business owner. I'd like to start doing consulting but I'm not exactly sure what to charge or where to start.

So all of my friends know me as the "business guy" since I successfully created and run multiple businesses and am financially independent doing it, and anytime anyone of them or someone they know wants to start a business they pretty much come to me to ask me questions. Typically I've been just giving out free advice to whomever asks but I'm starting to get questions from my "friend's aunt's husband's friend" type of people and I realized I'm actually doing business consulting work for free to people I don't really know.

So I'd like to start making money on this work I'm doing and I'm just wondering if anyone has any info on where to start and what's typical for prices for consulting.

I'm thinking simple starting with just making a business card for my consulting services where they can contact me for a "free consultation" where I can sit down with them and go over what their business idea is and everything and then charge per hour (I have no idea whats a fair price) when they need help with things like webdesign, logo design, marketing, SEO, payment processing, raw material suppliers, etc.

So pretty much does anyone have similar experience doing this? Is my plan pretty standard for what to do? What is a reasonable "Price" for services like this? Should I even charge hourly or do contracts?

Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Also, before anyone comes and points it out, yes I understand the irony of the post lol. Consulting someone on how to start a consulting business is obviously not the type of businesses I'd be consulting lol.
