Success has a lot to do with your sense of being Find out how to train yourself to make money and stay in tune with your mind, body and soul
I am a cabinetmaker with a small woodworking business comprising mainly of kitchen cabinets, millwork, and furniture. I don't feel overly entrepreneurial most of the time, as my day-to-day is similar to any other employed cabinetmaker. Still, I have employees, overhead, and a responsibility to keep the books organized and bills payed.
I recently spent a week with my parents and 37 year-old older brother (a permanent stay-at-home man child). It didn't take long before I started to hear about their 'ideas' and 'suggestions' about what I should be doing as an entrepreneur. My mom was convinced I should be importing something from China. Not sure what, but people on shark tank do it all the time, and it seems like if I can buy something for $10 and sell it for $40, maybe I should shut down the cabinet shop and do that.
Or breed hairless cats. They sell for $2000 you know. And then I could work from my house and have plenty of time off.
And did you know that marijuana dispensaries are really on the rise? Instant millionaires they tell me.
I did the best I could at entertaing their ideas. I know they mean no offence. I just felt so disconnected from the conversation. I'm more interested in ideas on how to get 2-3% better yield out of my sheet goods then to have 25 goddamn hairless cats on Craigslist.
Anyone else get bombarded with ridiculous ideas from their non-entrepreneur friends or family?
