Hi all I'm UK based and I've been attempting (and failing) in the last 3 months to run a drop ship T-Shirt business going down the well publicised Shopify route etc. It was started as an experiment more than anything to see what pitfalls I would come across in business, as I'm not experienced at e-commerce or business in general. But I do have a desire to provide for my young family,

It's failing due to a number of reasons. I have minimal funds and knowledge to invest in the correct marketing. And secondly, the shirts are good quality but the consumer can walk down our high street and buy branded cheaper. So in essence, as you all know, the margins on this business are immensely slim.

After reading many of your guys posts on here I'm still more than inspired to create a business in e-commerce, and I've been looking into wholesale( not specifically T-Shirts). However, I've seen a number of wholesalers where I like their products but again the margins would be slim. Things like novelty gadgets. etc.

So as I'm scouring the web to see where these are being sold I'm finding them but much cheaper than I could offer. And I'm looking at wholesale. So I get really confused as to how the competitors could offer at such low prices.

Has anyone else experienced this?
