Taking the plunge, but I need to differentiate myself from other similar businesses.

Success has a lot to do with your sense of being Find out how to train yourself to make money and stay in tune with your mind, body and soul

Hello reddit!

I'm in a transitional phase in my life, and I decided that I would spend a few months trying to start my own business. I used to create web applications for a living, and I want to start doing that on my own terms. I want to do that for a few months, and if I am able to make a living out of it, I will continue it and work on growing my business. And if I can't, then it's alright, I'll just go back to looking for a job similar to the one I had before :)

With the plethora of people offering websites anywhere from $500 to a $100k, I realize that this is a tough market, and that I will have to differentiate myself, and hustle to get any kind of clients.

I have noticed that the concurrence (especially in Switzerland, where I live) comes from companies who just take a CMS, create / buy a template style to add on top of that, and just call it a day after copy-pasting the client's content. Surely efficient as it shouldn't take them more than a couple of hours to get a website done, but I wouldn't allow myself to stoop down to that level.

I have found a few ways to differentiate myself, but I am not 100% convinced that it will be enough, or that it is understandable to the layman. I'm hoping that you can tell me if there is something below that sounds unclear or if you'd add something else.

  • When you buy from our competitors, you are likely to pay for someone without any programming or web design background, as our competitors overwhelmingly use ready-made website designs for ready-to-use website platforms. Even worse, with less scrupulous companies, you wouldn't be able to know the work was outsourced, or if copyrighted images have been used. We fight back with 100% transparence, and tell you exactly who is working on your website, where your images come from (we can also arrange for a photograph to make your own), and how we take the time to program every website from A-Z in our tech blog.
  • You do not need to worry about maintaining your website, ever. Our yearly hosting fee also includes complimentary content updates. Just let us know what's new, and we'll take care of everything right away.
  • We care about your customers just as much as you do. We follow analytics for every website we make, so that we don't just give you a website, but we also improve it to suit your customer base. We also monitor performance and errors continuously so that your website stays available and blazing fast, no matter how much traffic you are getting.
  • We make sure that your web presence is 100% complete. We make sure your website appears favorably in search engines, and that it is listed in the yellow pages (and similar). We can also manage your Twitter and Facebook presence, and create profiles consistent with your website's design. Also, if you would like to boost your traffic, we will gladly set up a web advertisement campaign for you.
  • Finally I'd add case studies once I have made a few websites, to show how much growth can be generated by a good web presence + a good advertisement strategy.

If I had to say that in a few words: We actually take the time to make the best website possible for you, and will go above and beyond to manage your entire web presence so that you can focus on your business.

I am still brainstorming better ways to actually present this, but I am hoping to make a real difference by not only creating websites, but make the web a completely worry-free experience for my future cutsomers.
