Anyone try out re-selling clothing? (Self-made brand OR wholesale)

I have a friend who owns clothing manufacturing factories in Asia, so I have a good opportunity to easily obtain a supplier for large quantities of clothing at great prices. The main issue I have is: isn't the market totally over saturated? Would it be better to try to start my own brand, or try to start a 'middleman' business for existing clothing companies? Are there any experiences that anyone who has tried this before could share? (i.e. the good, the bad, lessons learned)
