I have a 7 year plan to save up around $100,000-$150,000 to start an arcade.
The new way people are doing these is charging admission instead of making you put coins in the machine.
I want to get about 150 games, but here's the problem.
Pinball is usually the main attraction at these things, and according to my research, you can't fill it with crap pinball machines from the 70s. You have to get nice ones that cost between $3000-$8000.
My closest competitor has 70 pinball machines and 50 classic video arcade games. You can pick up video arcade games for around $500 give or take, but I don't see where I'd be a success with 10 pinball machines and 140 video arcade games. You really NEED to stock up on pinball because it's the one thing people can't really enjoy on their Playstation.
I've been looking at other arcades around the country, and some of them get by cheaping out on the pinball machines, but I can't. The reason is, the arcade I'm competing against has people coming from around the country, it's that good. The guy probably spent $500,000 on his games.
Is there a way to out compete this guy on 1/5 of his budget, or do I just take this idea out back and shoot it?
