How to respond when people ask what your patent covers?

I've now received multiple emails from people saying they are developing a similar product and want to know what my pending patent covers so they don't infringe. I'm not really sure how to answer these. Should I give them a brief plain english description? Tell them ask their lawyer? Ignore and let them sort it out themselves? I don't want to make it easier to compete with me but at the same time preventing infringement could be a lot easier than litigating.
