Question on pump priming

Hi all, new pump user here. I am using an animas ping.

I have noticed that when i change out my cartridge and prime, sometimes the insulin shoots out in a straight line and other times its big dots. I then bolus 2 units ( experimenting) and sometimes I get 2 big dots or sometimes three dots. Is this normal? or is my pump or cartridges bad? Sorry if a dumb question.
