Getting Journalists attention

Has anyone had success with this?

I've written to quite a few, making sure to tailor the letter / e-mail to each one and only where I think the type of thing they write about matches our audience / target audience.

I know they get the e-mails but I can't even get a "i'm not interested" back.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
