Success has a lot to do with your sense of being Find out how to train yourself to make money and stay in tune with your mind, body and soul
Hello all,
I'm wondering if anyone here has had experience building a physical local community?
I just moved my business (digital + tech space) into a thriving city in California that has yet to be hit by the "startup" bug. The community is in it's infancy, but it is growing—decentralized.
I've come from the other coast, from Miami area, where I've seen what happens to the city and its growth in innovation when the tech community comes together to raise awareness, education, and collaboration. As we all know, there's a ton of money here!
After being involved in my new city for the past couple of months, there are a couple of needs that I've heard come up time and time again:
- There is a need for an incubator/accelerator/or simply co-working space. The city has a city-funded incubator, but space is always short, and the need is only rising.
- There are decentralized little pockets of entrepreneurship which are popping up around the city—we've branded this movement.
- Need help establishing talent/employer relationships.
- And need help facilitating startup/investor relationships.
For #1, I'm not exactly sure what to do aside from bringing it up to an investor. No connections here yet.
For #2, we have created a meetup group and hosted a few events. The group is active, and I'll be building a facebook group for this as well. This is an on-going effort.
For #3, I am thinking of building a database for employers and local talent to make profiles for themselves. Think I can monetize this.
For #4, Not sure what to do here, but I feel that investors are unaware of the innovation that's happening around the city.
This whole community effort is branded under the mark "EngageSCV", which will also serve as a digital publication network for us to spread tech-related news around the city. No other news outlet in the city has a quality presentation—very antiquated, and none in the tech sector. Also unsure how to monetize this aside from traditional advertisements. Could use guidance from a veteran.
Has anyone had success building a local thriving community, putting your city on the map for a certain niche?
Would love to exchange some stories!
