How to apply for credit - with trade references from another business?

Hi all, this question pertains to credit apps and required trade references with manufacturers and distributors.  

I have references with another business I own, in another industry. I have started a new business unrelated, but now have to apply for accounts with distributors who obviously ask for references. Is there a way to indicate that I have references with another business? Or is that completely irrelevant and I have to start the whole process over?
