Hello all, thanks for the awesome community first and foremost. While I don't post much, I am a longtime lurker and I pass on r/entrepreneur to many friends as I find it very inspiring. I think now it's my turn, however and I would live your help if at all possible.
I'm trying to think how I can become an entrepreneur in the field of earth sustainability. For instance, renewable energy or clean water filtration in poor areas or reforestation or recycling, honestly the point is I'm not looking to so much start a business as I want to do good to my fellow man (no, I'm not some hippie) as I've had the opportunity to live in a third world country for two years and some things are starting to effect me personally / emotionally.
Now, I know I will need to make money to continue as a business, but that's why I'm posting here. How can I turn this passion into both? Is it profitable enough? Could I maybe elect it as a non-profit? Is there a certain field that isn't necessarily hot yet but is worth investigating? For instance, GE and their lettuce farm in Japan. I would love to be able to bring that kind of technology to poor and/or drought ridden nations.
Anyways, Reddit, I know this is vague. I apologize. If you feel it's TOO vague, I understand but I was hoping maybe someone here could help me at least light some initial research flame, brainstorm. You know?
I appreciate all of your time, so many of you have awesome projects going on, keep it up and keep inspiring us all!
