In short the back-end developer I brought on board to re-build the product needs to be replaced.

He's perpetually missed deadlines with no warning, continues to be poor about communication (often does not answer direct questions in email), and has made what I now know to be poor technology choices for the product. He's a software manager at a large tech company by day, so often I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

I have the first face-to-face meeting with him tmrw after several weeks of being MIA, any thoughts, useful resources, or suggestions?
