We wait this week on the pending Fatal Motion tabled in the House Of Lords to stop implementation of section 20 of the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD), which is widely expected to have a highly adverse effect on sales and marketing of e-cigarette and e-liquid products. The Department of Health estimates that 90% of e-cigarette advertising will be banned, however, last month the Royal College of Physicians called for e-cigarettes to instead be promoted “as widely as possible” as an increasing numbers of smokers falsely believe that vaping is as dangerous as smoking. The government estimates that the regulations could reduce the choice of products by over 96% therefore empowering Big Tobacco. This motion will ultimately determine the direction Shoreditch goes down along with many other vaping brands.
