"I can teach you how to make $$$ per month, passive/fast/quick/easy, JUST BUY MY COURSE!" - do you have Course-itis?

The information economy is beautiful, isn't it? Close to 100% margins, no overhead, slap a PDF together, sell it for 499 USD, put some ads together and make BANKKKK. Or start an ecommerce shop in a weekend, run it on shopify, do some SEO and make straight cash. But starting it is pure work, so let's buy a course to solve that problem.

"I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO DO IT!" "THESE NICHES ARE HOT" etc etc

Sounds intriguing. "Only 499 USD? Psh, I'll make that back (passively!) in 1 month."

If your cash-spidey sense just ringed, there is a high chance that you have "Course-itis", meaning you get blended easily by a shiny solution, or rather a promised solution.

Last week I've read a post where the following quote really struck with me:

Learning how to think is the only way to progress.

Learning what someone did is largely irrelevant unless you fully understand why and how they did what they did.

That is where thinking comes in, and is what no one is teaching how to do.

And honestly, I've been in the exact position of the (I think fictional) character Sam. You see someone making good money, and coincidentally they are also offering a course on how to do what they are doing. But they are rarely teaching you how to fish, but rather are selling it to you, for a premium.

It was an addiction and I have to regularly fight against buying new courses and ebooks, simply because I know 99% of those products out there are BS, selling me their method, but not their way of thinking.

There are some exceptions of course, Billy (who wrote the post) shares most of his knowledge for free on the blog, Gary Vaynerchuk shares it via his AskGaryVee show or Lewis Howes does a great job with his podcast.
