A couple of weeks ago, I organized a hackathon, where we gathered with 15 redditors that each would focus on building a profitable business from scratch!
The results? It was a blast! Productivity was high and yes, there were profitable businesses built in the process. Others used the hackathon to lay a solid foundation for promising new ventures.
So...
It's time to organize a new hackathon and based on all the feedback from class #1's attendees, I've updated the rules so hopefully the second one will be even more enjoyable, productive and profitable.
Here's the deal:
- Starting Sunday 12th of june, we'll kick off a 2-week-long-build-a-profitable-business-from-scratch-hackathon, remotely via Slack
- There will be a tiny entree fee of $5 (suggested by the previous class) to eliminate the folks that arent serious and not ready to provide + receive value from the group
- Inspired by projects like TheMillionDollarHomepage, Send Your Enemies Glitter, and other crazy viral businesses, the theme for this hackathon is to build a meme type of business (dont worry, future hackathons will have different themes revolving around real problems. Entrepreneurs can have some fun from time to time, grumpy Redditor)
- The class will have 20 entrepreneurs, registration starts today and ends when all the spots are filled.
- Goal is not to just make a nice website. Goal is to make a profit, so get ready to stop strategizing, overthinking ideas and let the group give you the kick in the pants you badly need. May the most profitable business win. (Your profit is your prize)
